Time flies. The eighth week has almost finished. Since I started this course, I have learned various kinds of technology which can be used in English teaching as well as important principles in teaching and learning English.
In this week,we reviewed peers' course project Plan and also learn about ANVILL.
ANVILL stands for A National Virtual Language Lab. Any teacher or student with web access (in class, at home, or in the office) can use ANVILL to listen to the
news, watch video clips, or submit voice or video-based assignments.
But the most challenging thing I did this week was creating a class site. I created a class site using Google site.
This is my first site I created. I created my 5th grade class wiki, which I plan to use in order to increase the students' input and practice at home.I also plan to post the information about homework. But my final goal is to have the students self-access autonomously.
The URL is
https://sites.google.com/site/mrskuritasclass/Mrs. Kurita's class
I would like the students to self-access to English resource on the wiki. I would like the students to keep a record about what they read and listened to, or do any reflective tasks. And also, I would like to make a quiz section in writing page, where a student post her own quiz and other students post answer.
Dear Tomoko,
ReplyDeleteWonderful Blog! you have briefly summarized the the activities we did this week. You have highlighted the importance of ANVIL with reference to its use. I strongly agree with you that ANVIL can be successfully used to teach listening and speaking skills. I went through your wiki and found very informative for the learners. Yes, the tools we carried out this week are very useful and they enhance learner autonomy.
Thank you.
Kamal
Hi Tomoko
ReplyDeleteI share the same opinions as Kamal about your blog and reflection. You have summarized what we have done successfully and emphasized ANVILL, which really deserves to be focused on this week. As for your class wiki, I loved it. It looks so pretty and I am sure your students will love it. We have improved our technology side a lot here, I hope we can efficiently apply what we have gained in this course in our classes, which will motivate our students.
Best, Nehir
Dear Tomoko,
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting how we thought creating a site would be a lot harder. It is demanding indeed, but it seems we've been working hard in order to cope with the difficulties thrown on our paths.
Well done!
Malu
Dear Komoto,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the review, and I admire your hardwork. I'm going to try to create a class site also. I like it that it could link to others resources while provide access for teacher and students to have a unified portal. However my concern is that up to now, I've used various IT aspect in class, for example, the students have an e-mail acc. where they have to remember their acc. and password. They also have a couple of other sitse where they have to remember acc. and password. I hope the "one portal" scenario could solve the problems:)
