Creating an Interactive PowerPoint in WEEK6

I created an interactive PowerPoint titled "World Quiz" this week.
I incorporated several elements such as "making the students to anticipate"
"making them to respond to it", "make them to think in pairs" and "Making quiz pair activity".
I often use questions or incomplete sentences to allow the students think and use their inner speech. I think producing appropriate pauses is important to allow the students think and respond to it.

When I was making the PowerPoint, my son who is a college student told me that he didn't like classes using PowerPoint because they are boring. So I said, "this PowerPoint is an Interactive PowerPoint. Maybe your teachers don't know how to use them interactively."

The model of interactive PPT is really great. Seeing is believing, Once you see the PPT,, you can understand what the Interactive PowerPoint is. This course provides with good learning opportunities and useful information.

  1. Dear Tomoko,

It's interesting that your son said PPT classes are boring. It's like one of the peer had mentioned that there are teachers who are not willing to overcome the fear of using IT, and use it to enhance the class.

It's true it's a good opportunity to learn useful information. It's also great to meet so many dedicated learners!

  2. Dear Huey,

    Thank you for the comment.
I would like to share what I learned in this program with my peer teachers to use it interactively.

  3. Hi Tomoko,

I agree with your son! Today I attended a two-day intensive course to renew my educational personnel certificates. I had four classes and two of the professors used PPT slides. To be honest with you, both classes were not interactive very much. While I thought I was able to learn a lot because the professors were very well-prepared and professional, I also felt that it would have been more interesting and more exciting if the classes had been more interactive. As you said, once we understand what interactive PPT really is, we can easily make ours more interactive. This is such a great course, isn’t it?

    Thanks,

    Makiko

  5. Dear Tomoko

I totally think the way you do, Power Point gives classes a lot of active interaction as long as it is designed in the apropriate way.

I checked you Power Point Presentation 'World Quiz' and I realized I do almost the same things in my class: making students predict, model sentence and grammar structures, making students produce by their own using the model they were given minutes before, asking students work in groups or in pairs, among other.

    Kind regards

    Dalton
